Don't confuse true with 'real'. Keep your values but ditch 'real'.

The advice that you should 'be you', the 'real you', is tolerance of laziness and complacency in disguise.

No one cares about your quirks; unless they're useful - or at least not harmful. They'd rather you be fake and be useful than real and useless.

Tell me, this 'real you', when did it set? When did you accept the characters of you to be so defining as to be identified by them? And if you did set a version in the past, what's stopping you from setting a better one?

You're better off evolving in the name of betterment, than stagnating in the name of 'realness'.

And isn't 'fake' but a feeling that you're not used to? The more you spend time in what's worthy, however odd at first, the more it will feel 'real' in the long term.

If you woke up today and had to no memories of your most debilitating limiting beliefs from your past, how would your life unfold?

A shackling past ought to be betrayed like the Judas.

And you do that by building evidence in the present that is so starkly opposing of your past -- to the point where you become unrecognizable. Until the mountain of fear and doubt is eroded the same way it was built in the first place -- bit by bit.

Each action and inaction compounding like stones pulling up. Years from now you will have built a mountain. Either of fear or of confidence.

The time will pass anyway. Why not spend it chipping away at the negative, while outbuilding the positive?

Better be attentive to address issues sooner than later.

Easier to put out a fire when a flame-old than when neglect turns it into an engulfing conflagration.

But how often are you grateful for not being ill while you're reasonably healthy?

Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.

-- Ayn Rand

You don't get to be everything for everyone without being nothing to yourself.

You will not think your way into readiness. You will only act your way into clarity. Begin.

Communication 107:

Surprise in a team is for trivias. It's fleeting. It's cheap. By the time you do the 'big reveal', you might find that what you've built to surprise is no longer needed or the goalpost has shifted.

Sensible is to communicate about one's state and progress towards a shared goal such that courses may be corrected timely.

Momentary 'wow's are not worth the gamble.

Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.

-- Seneca

Many get this backwards.

You ought to first reliably take on and execute the small before being entrusted with the big.

What makes you think you'd do 'better' or 'differently' simply because you're given a bigger shoe to fill? What sense is there in hoping you'd 'do better this time' without becoming better first?

No one hands you a general’s stars because you might be a great leader—you prove it in the trenches.

You gotta earn your stripes.
You don't get given them.

What could be more infuriating than being bottlenecked by he who wouldn’t keep his end of the bargain?

While we wait for life, life passes.

— Seneca

Everything comes and goes. To hold on to something as if it were permanent is to invite suffering.

-- Alan Watts

You know who mean their wishes when their means are straight despite how mean they seem.

People will show you back an amplified version, not just a reflection of, what you tolerate.

Set your standards with care.

People sometimes fail to live because they are always preparing to live.

— Alan Watts

To be loved is to bask in the ecstasy of the cocktail of attention, humility, and respect.

How long are you going to punish yourself by reliving your past mistakes? What will it take for you to start anew?

High time you learned to let go.

Take as a ginormous red flag when you see a company hiring fast but firing slow.

Letting your 'line in the sand' get worn away does not say about those you tolerated — it only screams about your own standard you let rot.

Gotta prune right, to grow right.

You can often tell how oblivious people are to the finiteness of life and their own mortality by examining their indeliberate tolerances.
